  23. I'm using a PAR card w/ TBCIV to digitize video takes.
  24. Captured image quality is less than superb, which I suppose
  25. is the result of image compression.  I find that
  26. with the Block Limit set at 176, the highest Q-Factor I
  27. can set is between 8 and 12.  The dedicated hard disk
  28. hooked up to the PAR is a Seagate 3600a, which is one of
  29. the very first hard drives that was approved for the PAR.

  31. I know that the newer disks that DPS has approved
  32. for use with the PAR can record and play back
  33. images with less compression than the disk I
  34. have now, but I don't have any idea of how
  35. much better the resulting image quality would

  38. Tom, I upgraded to the better/faster drive.  About the best you can hope for 
  39. from the
  40. PAR on captures is "good VHS".  It is certainly usable, but it is not 
  41. transparent capture.

  43. (BTW, the other/slower drive came in handy when I got a Pentium.....)
